Checking in

Just wanted to give everyone a quick update on our progress since we've now been homeowners for a week and a half!  We have around 90% of the painting done.  The office, entryway, powder bath, and master bath still need to be done.  Hopefully by Sunday the 15th, the painting will be 100% complete.  I'll make a random plug for Olympic paint from Lowes--it is Zero VOC and literally has no paint smell.  It's been so nice.  We used a Valspar brown in the nursery, and the smell was very apparent with that paint (even though it was supposed to have "clean air technology").

We have been sleeping in the house since last Wednesday, so not quite a week.  It's felt a little strange to sleep in a big, mostly empty, and very unorganized house.  Unpacking and organizing is an ongoing process, as we use the hours after work and before bedtime to do as much as possible.

Most importantly, the cable guy came to the house today so we now have cable and internet!  So it REALLY feels like home now.  ;)  Just kidding, the clutter really still prevents that homey feeling, and even internet and HBO can't fix that.

Once the house is put together, I plan on putting together a series of posts to show the before-and-after transformation of the rooms.  I can't wait to put our pictures on the walls so it really feels like ours.

**Update** literally, 2 minutes after hitting "publish post" I began reading a recent "Young House Love" post, which is a blog I follow.  It was pretty perfect in summing up how I feel right now:  house limbo.  It's ours, but it doesn't feel like it yet.  You can read it here: Young House Love.  It's a pretty great blog with awesome budget-friendly design tips/tutorials.  I recommend it!

Until next time . . .
