12 Weeks Old!

I'm leaving on a cruise Sunday with my sisters, mom, mother-in-law, aunt-in-law, and three other ladies (friends of mom and m-i-l).  I already miss Gary and Eliza like crazy.

Thank goodness Gary snapped this great picture of me and my favorite girl yesterday on her 12 week birthday!

I'm not sure when we'll get up her 13 week/3month post.  They fall on the same day!  We'll be spending Labor Day in Chicago so perhaps we'll wait a couple days and do her 3 month birthday photo shoot on location.  :)  Have a great week everyone, and I'll be back to posting next week!

Housekeeping

Like the new background?  I think it's cheery and cute!  I've decided that to mix it up a little bit, I am going to start changing the blog background seasonally.  Like, for birthdays and holidays.  So, except a celebratory background in September for my birthday, Halloween in October, and so on and so on!  It'll keep things fresh and exciting :)

Phone Dump!

It just occurred to me that my phone charger is also a USB cord (once I remove the plug), and I can upload pictures from my phone to the blog via computer quite easily.  Duh.  I knew this before, but I've had a baby since so all bets are off on my memory.

Anyway, my camera is like a gold mine.  So many forgotten pictures and little moments from the last year!  There are pictures from the final month of law school, Disney, summer 2010, Australia, Hawaii, Canaan Salvitti's birth-day, positive pregnancy tests, belly pictures, house pictures, and finally, baby pictures.  So many baby pictures.  And videos, too.  I'm so happy I can share them in this way!

Now, don't worry, I'm not dumping ALL of those photos on the blog!  Just a few of my recent favorites.

I really am my Daddy's girl :)

Pinky grab!

I can grab lots of toys!

Happy in the morning!

Mommy says I'm such a pretty girl! (taken today 8/25/11)

11 Weeks Old!

I've been slacking on the blog updates!  This week Eliza started daycare. She is at a center that has the highest national and state accreditation for childcare.  Right now she's in a room with just two other babies who are 5 and 6 months old.  This Monday there will be a 4th baby is only 6 weeks old!  So Eliza will no longer be the baby of the babies.  :)  Miss Sylvia, Eliza's "teacher," is fantastic and we really like her.  We could tell after just two days that Miss Sylvia really cares about Eliza and I am personally already attached!

Eliza has adjusted very well!  The first day she didn't nap well and came home and slept for 2 hours like a log.  But, since then she has slept better at daycare and more normally at home.  We're adjusting, too.  Mornings are tough, but afternoon pick-ups are great!  My coworker Hattie described it best:  it's like getting a present every day!  The best present ever.

Here are some of the cutest pictures taken during Eliza's 10th and 11th weeks!

Video Roundup

Perhaps we'll start a weekly post on Sundays of fun videos from the week.  We certainly have a few to share today!

In the first two, Eliza enjoys playing and trying to eat her fun ball:

Next up, Eliza decided to hold her own bottle!  (She's done this 3 times in 2 days--for MUCH longer--probably on accident.  right before I grabbed the camera she held it for at least 30 seconds!)

And last but not least, cousin Gia came over to play on Saturday!  Eliza wanted to hold hands, but then came a little too close to poking poor Gia in the eye.

New Tricks

Warning: high pitched squealing involved (not by the baby)
What a big girl!

Eliza has also discovered that her hands can grab!  She likes to stare at her hands and feet, and use both sets to play with her ball toy (the video of that is too long to post--fail--we'll try to get a shorter one!).

9 weeks old (or young)

It was a sad day in the neighborhood when Abby and I were struck with the growing realization that our Baby Girl is no longer a pink-bodied newborn. She has graduated to infant status.

This was discovered for two reasons and confirmed through the process of deductive reasoning:

1) Eliza can no longer comfortably wear newborn diapers. Her new size (creatively referred to as “1” bythe diaper magnates) is much larger than the “N” diapers (see what I mean?) and even go as high onto her waist to cover her belly button. The larger size does have one advantage: it can accommodate larger deposits.

2) The full-bodied newborn elephant sleeper (and equally cute newborn sleepers as pictured below) has been shelved for retirement and was the first wardrobe casualty(don’t worry—another able bodied sleeper eagerly took its place). It is sad to think that she will never wear it again.

No more elephants :(
and no more giraffe baby :(

But of course we are excited that she is growing and developing each day!

Here she is on her 9 week birthday.  Pictures by Granna.

2 Months already!

Our baby girl is 2 months old today!  She's growing so fast and we're excited by her constant development.  Our pediatrician is happy with her growth and says she is ahead of the game.  Eliza is such a happy baby (normally) and is full of smiles.  She makes our lives full and we can't imagine life without her!

Age: 2 Months

Weight: 9lbs 12oz, 24th percentile

Length: 23 in, 75th percentile

Size: 0-3 in length, but her newborn outfits fit her width-wise better

Teeth: none, of course

Sleeping: Amazingly, she started sleeping 6-7 hours a night last week!!!!  Usually 11-6

Eating: She probably eats around 24 oz maybe?  She's still fed breastmilk exclusively.

Movement: Her neck strength is improving every day!  When doing tummy time, her bottom half rocks off the ground but she's not rolling yet.

Milestones: She received her first immunizations last week.  She's almost laughing.

Favorite Toys:  Her animal play mat w/ spinning mobile, lights, and music.  Mr. Lion (on her bouncy seat arch) and Miss Froggy (a rattle).

 Dislikes: Wardrobe changes :)

Words/sounds: All sorts of coos, sighs, and squeals!

Here's a quick video and some pictures!  I'm going to spare you my incredibly high-pitched mom voice, and let you enjoy just Eliza in this video.  :)  I need to remember not to speak so loud or high when I press record!  LOL  :)

The ceiling fan is so fun to watch!

Almost two feet long!

Almost smiling

We Miss You, Uncle Adam!

My brother Adam moved out of our house this past Thursday evening after 10 1/2 months of cohabitation (for a few months this past fall/winter, all of the Troutmans were living in just 3 households: parents in Rochester, Adam & I in Carmel, Alissa & April in Naples, FL--funny!).  I have to say, he was a great roommate!  I can't remember any arguments.  He, Gary, and I are all similar temperaments and like the same TV shows.  He was also a huge support and sounding board during my pregnancy.

Adam came and stayed all night at the hospital when Eliza was born.  He got to hold her when she was just an hour or so old.  He was there when we came home from the hospital and documented the occasion for us.  In fact, he has probably taken over 200 pictures of Eliza in her first 8 weeks.

Eliza loves her Uncle Adam.  He was a big helper in the mornings before he went to work and she loved her time being held by him and playing with him.  She misses him now that he's gone!  Gary and I miss him around the house, too.

So, as the title says, we miss you, Uncle Adam!  This post is for you :)  We love you!

Just because

she's cute, I'll share this picture :)
