42 Weeks

Abby said we would add more involved posts in the future.  I’m not here to fulfill that promise.  Over the past week Eliza came down with hand foot mouth disease (which sounds much worse than it is).  She is feeling much better and hopefully her rash will soon begin to disappear.

Eliza has really started to enjoy her riding caterpillar and can even make it move on her own.  She really enjoys it when someone pushes her around room real fast.  She also has developed a unique dismounting technique:  she slides her way off the back of the caterpillar onto the ground.

Eliza of course loves for Uncle Adam to entertain her as the following video shows:
We also took Eliza to the Indianapolis Zoo, but that is for another post.  On to the pictures!

Summer, er, Spring is Here!

Wow, what a whirlwind two weeks we've had.  Two weeks ago today Eliza got a clean bill of health at her 9 month well visit with her pediatrician.  Three days later we were in the ER at Peyton Manning Children's Hospital twice in one night because Eliza was spiking high fevers accompanied by seizure.  Our little girl has battled an ear infection the last ten days.  She spiked another fever two days ago, which lasted a full 24 hours despite round-the-clock, rotating doses of baby tylenol and ibuprofen.  For good measure, there was even another seizure, though milder than before.  We found out today she has hand, foot, mouth disease--a highly contagious virus--that will likely spread to Gary, myself, Uncle Adam, and anyone who might otherwise come in close contact with us.  We also made an appointment to see a pediatric neurologist at the direction of our pediatrician.

So you can understand why the blog has taken a backseat these past two weeks.  For one, we're busy dealing with a sick kiddo and just soaking up all the snuggles she's giving.  But also, we haven't had that much fun stuff to share.

I did want to pop in today though and share some fun things.  Uncle Adam (my brother) had a birthday yesterday!  And spring arrived!  Now, as the title of this post suggests, we've really welcomed an early return of summer-like temps.  According to our morning news weather man, we have been experiencing mid-June temps this past week.  We've definitely broken several weather records with our 80`+ weather.

This weather and the arrival of summer spring has also inspired us to get our deck ready for enjoyment.

Come join us!
We got two new gravity chair loungers from Sam's club.  Two "wicker" coffee tables from Target, along with some neat solar-powered lanterns (you can see one in the far left on the deck railing), cushions from Garden Ridge, and two umbrellas from Garden Ridge--Gary has only put up one umbrella so far.  The other we will probably wait on, but at the low price we didn't want to miss out.  Our deck is about 16x18 (I think), so one umbrella only covers a small portion.

We've really enjoyed spending time out here!

"I LOVE OUTSIDE!"
Today we also had a lawn company out to regrade and seed our backyard, as well as seed over our existing sod.  We should have a green lawn by summer!  Yay!

We've really appreciated all the support and facebook comments from our friends about Eliza.  We really hope we can share that she's healthy very soon!

9 months old!

Weight: 16 lbs 9oz, approx. 20% according to Dr's office (we didn't get it written down this time)

Length: 27.5 inches, we can't remember the %

Head: 44.5 cm, about 75%!  Our big-brained girl.  :)

Clothing size:  9 month pants are needed, but 6month shirts/onesies still fit best.  6-12month stuff is too big.

Eating:  3 meals a day!  Fruit + oatmeal for breakfast, a veggie for lunch, and a veggie or protein + veggie mix for dinner.  She eats one container (about 3.5oz) at each meal.  She also loves puffs, mum-mum crackers (veggie flavor), and ate some cut up pears the other night with her hands--she liked that!  We'll start adding more finger foods over the next several weeks.  She's also still drinking breastmilk bottles, though not as much as a month ago.

Movement: Crawling, oh boy, do we have crawling!  She loves to crawl all over the place.  Eliza's also pulling herself up onto everything she can reach and walking along furniture, toys, etc.

Sleeping:  Well we had some sleep regression this month.  We really couldn't even say she slept through the night this month, because she woke up once almost every single night--but thankfully, the last three nights she hasn't woken up at all!  Yay!

Likes: crawling.  Uncle Adam.  Minnie Mouse.

Dislikes: when we prevent her from crawling where she wants to go.  Bananas.  when we take away cell phones or remote controls from her. sitting still for diaper changes.

Speech: we have a new babble--the angry "di di di di".  It's pretty funny!

Milestones:  crawling and pulling up.  First finger foods.  First "meats" (in puree form).

not so sure about this...

happy girl!

Happy 40 Week Old Baby Girl!

Bad bloggers.

We've been bad bloggers this week.  In the works are Eliza's 9 month-birthday post and her 40 week post.  Maybe even a post from Daddy/Gary coming up!

In the meantime, here's a cute one of Eliza staring at herself in my front-facing phone camera:

And, in other news, the current magnetic field makes things like brooms and eggs stand up on end without any support.  I tried this last night and it worked:
While at first glance the it might look like the broom is resting against the door in the background, I assure you the pantry is a good 5-6 feet away from the broom.  It also stayed like this for at least 3 minutes before I moved it.  Neat!

39 Weeks!

This was an eventful week.  Eliza has been crawling for a couple weeks now, but this week she has mastered the art of pulling up.  She can pull herself up to standing using the couch, the foot stools, chairs, somehow she managed to use the TV tray which is much taller than her, and the other night, Gary found her standing in her crib at 3am.  So, we now have another baby hazard to manage!  :)  Eliza's crawling is much better now.  She can go very fast and has discovered most every inch of the first floor, except the stairs--so far!

This window is pretty neat!

On Saturday the 3rd, Eliza had her 9 month birthday!  We celebrated by having her 9 month professional photos taken.  We're waiting to do our own 9 month sticker photos until later this week after we go Eliza's 9 month well visit with the pediatrician.  Until then, enjoy some pictures and a video from this week!

Hi Mommy!
The video was taken on my phone's front facing camera, so Eliza was talking to herself--adorable!
