I'm still amazed at how quickly time has gone by, especially this month of May. Hitting the "two week" mark doesn't feel very special, though, mostly because due dates don't mean much in reality! She could come tomorrow or on June 9th. Who knows?!
Here's how I look these days:
How Far Along: 38 weeks
Size of baby: about 7 pounds and gaining about an ounce per week, supposedly. She could be nearly 19.5 inches long. Big, in other words. :)
Total Weight Gain/Loss: I'm holding steady b/t 30-35 pounds.
Maternity Clothes: Even some of my maternity pants aren't fitting me well any more. I have to wear the full panel, or else the pants roll and dig into the lower part of my belly--very uncomfortable.
Movement: I'm not experiencing jabs/kicks so much as long stretching/pushing movement. My Doctor called her a "wild one" at my appointment on Monday; he said she was really rolling around still.
Sleep: Has gotten better in the past week. I'm staying off my feet more, which means my hips hurt less and I can sleep in longer stretches.
Symptoms: Still swelling, though the under-average temperatures have helped in that regard. The 80 degrees + humidity at the end of last week was not cool.
What I miss: Most everything about not being pregnant. This is amazing, but 40 weeks (or more) is a very.long.time.
Cravings: Junk. I think this is more mental than anything. I've been good at eating fairly well the past 8-9 months, but knowing I only have a few more weeks left has given me the mind set of "If I vaguely want it, then I'm going to eat it." This has manifested itself in Snickers bars and Peanut Butter cookies, mostly.
Best Moment this week: Finishing the nursery (minus 2 or 3 details)!
Labor signs: Irregular contractions from time to time. Nothing major to report!
The past two weeks since my last official update have been busy! I had a surprise baby luncheon shower from my coworkers and a full baby shower hosted my Mom, Mother-in-Law, and Sister-in-Law (all the way from England!). I had amazing times at each and am so thankful for all the gifts for Eliza. I think we are as ready as we can be for her to arrive.
I also wanted to call out my Mom and Mother-in-Law for driving down last week to help around the house while Gary and I were at work. My Mom completely painted our office space, and Diana unpacked, washed, and put away baby clothes. She also organized our walk-in pantry for us. I was getting overwhelmed by the details, so this was beyond helpful. Thanks to you both!!!!!
