The Basics:
- 23 pounds, not sure how tall but her pants are getting too short!
- We're moving into 18-24m clothes for the most part, still in size 4 diapers, size 5 shoes.
- We are impassively working on potty-skills and trying to decide when to give it actual effort. We stockpiled diapers awhile back when on sale, so haven't bought diapers in nearly 3 months!
Fun Stuff:
- She is talking up a storm! We've got phrases and she loves to describe things. Her favorite thing to say is "Yellow bus." We like to point out all the buses on the commute into work/daycare. She said "excuse me" once and likes to tell us what to do: "stand up", "sit down." Oh, another favorite is her sing-song "We're hoo-oome," when we pull into the garage.
- Eliza surprised us (understatement) by pointing out letters on my shirt late in the month, too. So far she's identified R, U, S, and A (although she only calls As triangles!). She knows Cs, but only by the sound they make (c-uh). We think that's just incredible.
- She loves having tea parties and serving us or her stuffed friends, which is pretty adorable.
- Engaging in pretend play and playing with other children.
Milestones:
- Eating her first full piece of pizza! She's had pizza of course, but never finished a full slice before.
- First overnight without Mommy & Daddy for two nights. She had a great weekend with her Granna and Grandpa (Na-na and Papa) at an Indy hotel.
Her Likes:
- Peas, still.
- Climbing on furniture.
- Going down any slide, big or small.
- Reading books.
- When we play with her--she specifically asks.
- Jumping on the bed with assistance from Daddy!
Our Likes:
- That she is still such a great sleeper and let's us sleep in on weekends.
- Giving her options for clothes and seeing what she picks for the day or PJs.
- Communicating and interacting with her.
- She is becoming more comfortable in social situations.
- Hugs.
Her Dislikes:
- Being told no.
- Bathtime.
- Sharing her own stuff.
- The iron (so weird!).
- The handheld vacuum.
Our Dislikes:
- Her possessiveness/anti-sharing of her own toys.
- How she only ever says "no" and never "yes."
- When she doesn't feel well--we've dealt with a cold (now an ear infection) for several weeks.
- Leaving her overnight!
We love our little girl so much, and even though she's almost 2, she's still our baby! Party planning for her 2nd birthday and gifts are underway. It's exciting to have birthdays, but it really reminds us of how fast she's growing up. Eliza amazes us on a daily basis and we know that will continue as she gets older!
