28 Month Update

28 months old already?  It seems like we just had our September update.  How is it October?  I sound like a broken record.

Eliza is all toddler these days.  Talking in full sentences, having meltdowns, being defiant, and super snuggly.  Her favorite things right now are dance & gymnastics, Disney Princesses--Cinderella, usually, but Ariel as a runner-up--stickers, painting, baths(!!! big progress), Minnie Mouse, Sesame Street Characters, and Mickey Mouse Clubhouse.  She also loves doing puzzles at school.

Eliza will officially and happily wear bows all day long now, which is nice to keep her growing-out-bangs out of her face at school.  We're still working on the potty, with a few successes this past month.  She will sit on a big-girl potty (with potty ring) almost as willingly as her little potty.  She's nearly spelling her name and is working on number recognition, meaning that while she'll count, she doesn't quite grasp the concept of quantity and what counting means!

Eliza's defiance most notably is present in the mornings when we get her dressed.  Sometimes she has strong opinions that ultimately make us late for work!  Once this past month we couldn't get her Minnie Mouse PJ top off, so that's what she wore to school.  Pick your battles, right?

Eliza was officially released by her ENT this past month.  She lost her right ear tube this past spring, and her left ear tube is making it's way out (is probably out by now).  She's had no ear infections since May-ish, so unless she has 4 in 6 months she won't need new tubes.  Yay!  She definitely has allergies like her mama, but we keep that under control with some baby benadryl, a humidifier, and flonase.

Her 2 year molars are slowly making their way through, and so far she has the top two nearly all the way in.  This has been a fairly easy process, knock on wood, and I think not having all 4 push through at once is probably helping!  We had one middle-of-the-night cry-fest (during which I slept on her floor for 2 hours to keep her calm), but other than that we've all still gotten full nights of sleep.  This is much better than her teething a year ago.

All in all, she's developing great and we are so blessed to be her parents!    And to close out this post, here is a video!  I made Gary take in case she's on The Voice, American Idol, or X-Factor (not that one, she'll have more talent than that! ;)) to show how she's been singing since she was 2!  We've never done this ourselves or told her to do it--she just picked them up and started singing!  LOL!  Enjoy :)
