When the house was still being built, I knew I wanted to take a simple, vintage, and bold approach to the guest room. I found fabric on etsy and was instantly inspired:
Nicey Jane Fabric by Heather Bailey sold by mimis shop on etsy.
Floral on one side...
Stripe on the other.
We painted the walls the same tan that is in our entryway. I got a green quilt and teal quilt at Wal-Mart for $20 each! I couldn't just get one for that price. They are both thin, so in the winter the guests might want to use both!
Up until about a month and a half ago, that was all the decorating in the guest room. Then, we decided to have the gifted nightstands from Gary's Grandpa refinished by Lila's Pockets. We gave a fabric sample and asked for a bright green. They turned out amazing!
They are lightly distressed and a wonderful shade of green. Finally, I turned to accessorizing and wall decor. As you can see on this nightstand, I found a turquoise frame at Target and a fruit bowl in a sunny yellow/gold. Inside the frame I put a piece of pillow fabric with an "r" cut by a Cricut machine. I think it looks great! On the other side is a turquoise glass vase I bought at TJ Maxx Home Goods for our apartment awhile back. Then, I wanted to decorate the wall behind the bed since we don't have a headboard. I still had a bunch of fabric, so I took the embroidery hoops off the wall in the nursery and switched out the fabric to go in this room. I also hung the mirror I bought for $5 at Target for our apartment awhile back.
I think it turned out great!
There is still some work to do. Currently there are two empty shabby gold frames hanging on the side wall. I need to figure out what to put in there. Also, those lamp shades are actually a shade of green, but the wrong shade! The bases are the perfect distressed ivory color that matches the color and style of the only piece of furniture in the room--a distressed ivory TV cabinet. It's the perfect hiding place for a small TV and the extra linens.
I hope you enjoyed the look into our guest room! It's open for visitors. :)
