The FUN 18 months post!

Sorry again for the debbie downer post.  This post is all about celebrating our growing girl!

The challenge of monthly pictures continues!
The Basics:

  • No official well-baby visit this month.  Our pediatrician had surgery and it out until January, so her next official baby will be in January!
  • Our unofficial weight check shows her at 21.8 pounds.  We forgot to do height today, but plan to mark if officially on her growth chart in her bedroom, too.  :)
  • She is eating and sleeping really well!  Still one two-hour nap during the day and about 12 hours at night.  She really likes to eat fish, and lately will go after broccoli, too!  And raw tomatoes--silly girl!  Mommy & Daddy reallllly hate raw tomatoes so she gets that from her grandparents.
  • She's loving dance class and is pretty much running now.  She likes to climb and slide off of things.  She sometimes will jump off her chair, too.  She learned to climb up onto the couch this past month, too.
Talking:
  • She is talking so much now!
  • Our favorite new phrase:  "ta da!"  We're working on "Merry Christmas" and "ho ho ho".
  • Other new words:  sock, shoe, hot, cold, bite, Elmo ("melmah" or "melmo"), bird.  I'm sure there are more, but we're drawing blanks.
  • She's working on sounds.  She can say "vroom" for car, "moo" for cows, "hoo" for owls, and I'm pretty sure she's saying "owww" for meow/cats.
  • Her hard "C"/"K" sound is getting so good!
  • She is trying to sing specific songs, like "row your boat," the Pete the Cat shoe song, and other songs. She'll also say "Oh No!" in her own little way when reading Pete the Cat.
  • It seems like in general, her speech is just exploding!
Can I touch it?
Likes:
  • Pete the Cat book
  • Old school push-popper toy
  • Pictures of herself or family
  • Cuddling (I knew it would happen eventually!  She's never been a real cuddly baby until recently).
  • Bubbles
  • Skyping or Tango with family, and giving kisses over the phone!
  • Trying to put on hats and coats herself
  • Books, books, books
Our likes:
  • Cuddling!
  • Listening to her babble and growing vocabulary
  • Her belly laughs
You can't contain me!
Dislikes:
  • Posing for the camera instead of holding the camera
  • Having things taken away
  • Tights (when she thinks they are socks, but they won't pull off!  Cue: frustrated toddler.)
  • Watching her coats being hung up (weird!)
  • Some loud noises
Our dislikes:
  • When she doesn't want our help, even when she can't do things by herself
  • When she throws food on the floor
Refusing to sit in the chair.

Milestones:
  • First gingerbread house (separate post about this in the works!)
  • Another daycare transition--going great!
  • If we think of more, I'll update as necessary!
It's been a great month!  We're bummed not to have her developmental well-baby visit this week like originally planned, but it's comforting that her pediatrician is comfortable enough with Eliza's development to postpone her appointment.  And we have no concerns and think she is growing, learning, and developing perfectly!  :)
