Summer, er, Spring is Here!

Wow, what a whirlwind two weeks we've had.  Two weeks ago today Eliza got a clean bill of health at her 9 month well visit with her pediatrician.  Three days later we were in the ER at Peyton Manning Children's Hospital twice in one night because Eliza was spiking high fevers accompanied by seizure.  Our little girl has battled an ear infection the last ten days.  She spiked another fever two days ago, which lasted a full 24 hours despite round-the-clock, rotating doses of baby tylenol and ibuprofen.  For good measure, there was even another seizure, though milder than before.  We found out today she has hand, foot, mouth disease--a highly contagious virus--that will likely spread to Gary, myself, Uncle Adam, and anyone who might otherwise come in close contact with us.  We also made an appointment to see a pediatric neurologist at the direction of our pediatrician.

So you can understand why the blog has taken a backseat these past two weeks.  For one, we're busy dealing with a sick kiddo and just soaking up all the snuggles she's giving.  But also, we haven't had that much fun stuff to share.

I did want to pop in today though and share some fun things.  Uncle Adam (my brother) had a birthday yesterday!  And spring arrived!  Now, as the title of this post suggests, we've really welcomed an early return of summer-like temps.  According to our morning news weather man, we have been experiencing mid-June temps this past week.  We've definitely broken several weather records with our 80`+ weather.

This weather and the arrival of summer spring has also inspired us to get our deck ready for enjoyment.

Come join us!
We got two new gravity chair loungers from Sam's club.  Two "wicker" coffee tables from Target, along with some neat solar-powered lanterns (you can see one in the far left on the deck railing), cushions from Garden Ridge, and two umbrellas from Garden Ridge--Gary has only put up one umbrella so far.  The other we will probably wait on, but at the low price we didn't want to miss out.  Our deck is about 16x18 (I think), so one umbrella only covers a small portion.

We've really enjoyed spending time out here!

"I LOVE OUTSIDE!"
Today we also had a lawn company out to regrade and seed our backyard, as well as seed over our existing sod.  We should have a green lawn by summer!  Yay!

We've really appreciated all the support and facebook comments from our friends about Eliza.  We really hope we can share that she's healthy very soon!

  1. I told Adam yesterday that on the day he was born Joy and I barely made it to the hospital in Logansport when she went into labor because of a blizzard. Can you say global warming? The deck looks great. Can't wait to try it out (as soon as Eliza's better, that is!). Love and prayers headed your way, as always.
